Based in Baltimore, Maryland you will be the Company's designated Railroad Testing Officer pursuant to the conditions set forth in 49 CFR 217.9. You will supervise all employees while planning daily train and switching operations consistent with Bombardier's Safety Policy. You will also be responsible to review, recommend and implement operations processes that maximize efficiency.
In your role you will:
: Ensure the overall supervision of all on:board crew members. This includes job instructions, training, evaluations, accident investigations and discipline when necessary;
: Perform the functions of a Locomotive Engineer and Conductor as required. This person is required to perform regular operational tests as required by 49 CFR 217.9;
: Administer the Company's engineer training program, certify and/or re:certify all Locomotive Engineers and Conductors;
: Analyze or assist in analyzing data from locomotive event recorders, both for post accident investigations and for random reviews of individual engineer performance;
: Maintain Operations Department rule compliance through regular observations and tests. Interacts with the M.O.W. Departments on a regular basis and with the Transportation Coordinator and Crew Management Coordinator;
: Periodically ride regularly scheduled trains to determine employees' compliance with rules and special instructions and look for areas which may benefit from increased attention;
: Coordinate any efficiency testing to be done on CSXT ROW with the appropriate CSXT personnel, who are required to be present during testing;
: Maintain the Company's program of operational tests and inspections as well as records of performed tests, results of those tests and any associated required correspondence;
: Perform these duties as well as such other duties that may be prescribed by the Operations Superintendent from time to time.
As our ideal candidate:
: You hold a Bachelor's degree of Science in Transportation, Engineering or the equivalent experience;
: You have five (5) years of experience in a rail operations environment combined with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a leadership or management role;
: You own experience working with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) requirements;
: You have background in safety and knowledge of Federal Rail Road (FRA) regulations (asset);
: You own excellent communication skills;
: You have knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
: You are a self:starter and have strong communication and negotiation skills;
: You are creative and are well known for your analytical thinking skills.
