Job Description:/h3:
Exciting opportunity for a Junior:Mid level MEP Estimator to join our clients construction team. Our client offers international construction services and is a leading builder in diverse market segments. The MEP Estimator will prepare detailed estimates for the project based on the construction drawings and specifications, focusing on the MEPS trades in the performance of this function, the Estimator is responsible for the communication of bids and scopes of work to supervisors.
:Preparing complete quantity take:offs, analysis, estimate, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope.
:Performing a constructability analysis through the identification of design and constructability issues.
:Offer value engineering options for alternate MEPS systems.
:Evaluate the appropriateness of MEPS design considerations
:Provide first costs analysis and participate in life cycle analysis with the design team.
:Provide support for development in General Conditions studies for items such as utility consumptions
:Work with Turner Logistics where applicable to coordinate equipment pricing with the overall MEPS estimates.
:Developing a value analysis by defining alternatives to the proposed scope that are more cost:efficient.
:Serving as liaison with subcontractors, design team (architects, engineers, consultants) and client.
:Preparing detailed estimate of entire scope of assigned trades, building system, and/or overall project cost. Utilize new technology (e.g., OST, BIM) and apply to estimating.
:Preparing and assembling bids and proposals for different contract types (lump sum, GMP, Cost Plus, etc.)
:Analyzing existing site conditions and all contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to determine any required scope that is not indicated.
:Preparing scope requisitions for assigned trades; coordinating with fellow estimators to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps; review estimate approach and results with design team and client.
:Working with operations staff and fellow estimators to ensure that general conditions and general requirements items are properly addressed in the estimate. Participate in project hand:off to Operations to ensure proper transfer of knowledge from Preconstruction to Operations.
:Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work. Determining if scope is covered and managing risk of scope gaps.
:Making recommendations to Chief Estimator and client for contemplated expenditures.
:Supervising Assistant Estimating Engineers, Estimating Assistants and/or Interns as assigned.
:May assist in evaluating large change orders.

:Bachelors degree
:2:5 years of related work experience
:Proven written and verbal communication abilities
:Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and SharePoint
:Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules
:Familiarity with accounting principles
Physical Requirements/Work environment
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
