HVAC Mechanic III - Position #119522


The HVAC Mechanic III is a member of the Electro Mechanical unit (Plumbing, HVAC and Electrical) of the Department of Residential Facilities which is responsible for providing and/or arranging routine and emergency maintenance services for the College Park’s Campus’ residence halls, Greek chapter houses and recreational facilities. The Department is responsible for 48 residence hall buildings and Fraternity Row chapter houses with just over 2 million square feet of space.

This position is responsible for general diagnosis and repair of central temperature control systems (air and water heating and cooling) for all campus residential communities and Fraternity Row facilities. This position will also have responsibility for regional heating and cooling systems in SCUB facilities, and perform chiller work. In addition, the position will diagnose and perform service repairs to gas burners in the renovated Fraternity Row facilities.

The successful candidate will have a level of technical expertise in HVAC systems performing a wide range of HVAC tasks at a journeymen’s level. The preferred candidate should have experience using the Building Automation System (BAS) consisting of ALC, Talon, Staffa and all associated sub components of the building systems. Additionally the candidate is able to work independently as well as with other team members to complete tasks, resolve problems and perform work in a timely, professional and safe manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GEDAND Eight years progressively responsible experience in any combination of air conditioning, refrigeration, temperature control, steam distribution, or heating trades. Valid driver’s license with less than 6 points. Candidates with experience using the Building Automation System (BAS) consisting of ALC, Talon, Staffa and all associated sub components of the building systems preferred.
