The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for A Repairman - Track & Way Maintainer. The A Repairman - Track & Way Maintainer will repair, install, inspect, and clean running rail, guard rails, closure rails and associated track fasteners and accessories. The Employee will perform flagging, welding, grinding, fabrication, removing, repairing, installing and scheduled maintenance on metro rail tracks and related structures/appurtenances in accordance with MTA track standards, design plans/specifications and Federal and State law.



Education & Experience: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate; plus one (1) year of experience in railroad or a related industry repairing, installing, inspecting, and cleaning running rail, guard rails, closure rails, and associated track fasteners and accessories. Experience as a railroad tamper operator is highly desirable. Must successfully complete a medical evaluation to determine the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.


This position requires a good driving record and a valid driver's license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of Maryland.

Must have a Class "A" Restricted CDL Permit prior to hire and a CDL within the ninety (90) day probationary period.

Applicants must submit a CURRENT copy of their complete driving record (NOT more than 30 days old), (NOT the 36 months driving record) available from MVA with their application.

Driving record must be within MTA standards (no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years; no more than 3 moving violations in the last 5 years; and no more than 4 current points. A driving record indicating a conviction for driving while impaired or driving while under the influence (DUI) of drugs or alcohol in the past 5 years or more than 1 conviction for driving while impaired or driving while under the influence (DUI) of drugs or alcohol within the total driving history will disqualify you from the recruitment process).

A written and practical examination will be given to all qualified applicants to fill current and future vacancies.
