The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center located at 201 Waterfront Street, Oxon Hill, MD 20745 is currently hiring a Lead Banquets Steward.
Responsibilities include: JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Lead Steward Banquets Department: Conf Mgmt - Banquets, F&B - Outlet Company: Gaylord Hotels Reports To: Asst Exec Steward , Exec Chef - Restaurant Supervises: N/A Job Description Date: 8/22/06 Job Purpose: Two to three sentences describing the overall purpose of the job Lead the stewarding team to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of food service and preparation ware. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation inthe dish rooms and kitchen areas. Job Responsibilities: Maximum of ten responsibilities, in order of percentage of time spent on functions from longest to shortest; do not list anything that doesnot represent at least 10% of the job's time. Please include supervisory responsibilities. 1. Coordinate the overall operation of the stewarding team in assigned areas including time and attendance responsibilities. 2. Assist with training and ensure that new stewarding team members are fully oriented to proper procedures and policies. 3. Monitor the transport and retrieval of all china, glass and service ware to banquet rooms. 4. Inspect banquet service areas for accurate service ware sets and cleanliness. 5. Monitor the proper handling of all chemicals. 6. Ensure that safety procedures are adhered to in the assigned area. 7. Ensure that all equipment and food service ware is cleaned and properly maintained. 8. Maintain familiarity with banquet/event menus and any available guest options. 9. Perform inventory and stocking duties as required. 10. Perform service ware cleaning and sorting duties as needed. 11. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Describe the minimum qualifications needed to complete the job responsibilities. Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience Minimum one-year stewarding experience required preferably in a high volume operation. Good communication skills required. Ability to speakand read English required. Licenses/Certifications N/A Management Activities: Check all that apply Interview, select and train STARS Set and adjust their rates of pay and hours of work x Direct the work of STARS (Stewarding team in the assigned area) Appraise STARS productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status x Handle STAR complaints Discipline STARS Plan the work Determine the techniques to be used x Apportion the work among the STARS Determine the type of materials, supplies, machinery, equipment or tools to be used or merchandise to be bought, stocked and sold Control the flow and distribution of materials or merchandise and supplies Provide for the safety and security of the employees or the property Plan and control the budget Monitor or implement legal compliance measures Customarily and regularly direct the work of at least 2 or more full-time STARS or their equivalent (1 full-time STAR at 40 and 2 half-timeSTARS at 20 hours each , are equivalent to 2 full-time STARS). Authority to hire or fire other STARS, or makes suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing , advancement, promotion or anyother change of status of other employees are given particular weight.
