Candidates for Surgical Technician I: GOR Neuro must have high school diploma or GED ancd ompletion of an accredited Surgical Technician Program are required. Surgical Technician certification required

Zayed 3 OR Neuro: Holidays & On-Call required

Position Summary: Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, performs duties in the operating room to assist the surgical team in surgical services other than those performed in Ophthalmology and JHOC operating rooms, such as scrubbing on all types of operative procedures, obtaining and preparing instruments and equipment and maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment. Performs any one or more of the measures specific to the GOR/Weinberg Surgical Technician I job description, for a specified period of time, as assigned by the Nurse Manager.

Knowledge: Familiar with verbal and non-verbal communication styles. In depth knowledge of aseptic technique principles. In depth knowledge of standard precautions. Instrument care and handling principles. Surgical anatomy and physiology. Team concepts and dynamics.

Skills: Ability to function as a member of the operating room team under stressful situations. Perform proficiently in scrub role for routine procedures. Organization and planning for surgical procedures. Operation of routine operating room equipment.

Work Experience: Six to twelve months of prior experience as a Surgical Technician preferred.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of accredited Surgical Technician Program required.
