The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for Supervisor, Systems Maintenance - Metro. The Supervisor is responsible for supervising the performance of a technical staff of electronic technicians and other repair personnel involved in the installation, testing, maintenance, operation, inspection and repair of highly technical and complex electro-mechanical equipment and analog and digital circuitry. The Supervisor will participate in budget preparation and is responsible for the financial accounting of labor materials; and for interfacing with training staff personnel to assist and support in training activities. The Supervisor, Systems Maintenance is responsible for maintaining awareness and understanding of changes in transit equipment and systems technology and operations, and developing new and improved maintenance techniques as required. The supervisor may be responsible for supervising the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of wayside signals and traction power signals. This position will also perform other jobs of a related nature.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
One year of experience in Asset Management Systems or a similar maintenance tracking system. Candidate will also have at least one year of experience in one or more of the following:
1.Traction Power-AC and DC high voltage breaker and switch gear overhaul and maintenance.
2.Electronic Shop-supervision of calibration test and repair facility performing maintenance and diagnostics of complex digital and analog devices and calibration management.
3.Metro Signals-Automatic train control system which includes: track circuits, switch machines, trip stops and data transmission systems.
4.SCADA-supervisory control and data acquisition

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

1.Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.
2.Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and will be required to provide the agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
3.Employees are required to maintain a reliable communication link (telephone or beeper) for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
4.Employees may be required to work evenings, night shifts and weekends.
5.Employees in this classification are considered "Essential Employees" and will be required to adhere to all policies and procedures relating to "Essential Employee" status.


Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
