The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for a Truck Shop Supervisor in the Office of Operations Support. The Truck Shop Supervisor is required to supervise vehicle repair, maintenance, and inspection performed in the Truck Shop. The employee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and personnel forecasting for the servicing of MTA light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles. The work in this classification also involves tracking and executing provisions of the labor contract, MTA Rules, Regulations, and Policies. Employees in this class directly supervise staff of the Truck Shop including "A", "B", and "C" Repairmen and Cleaners. Employees receive general supervision from the Truck Shop Superintendent and other designated officials from the Office of Operations Support. Employees will be required to travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area in all types of weather conditions, and perform other functions as necessary.


Education & Experience: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, plus four (4) years of experience in repair, maintenance and inspection of heavy duty automotive vehicles and equipment. **Three (3) of the four (4) years must have been in the following: gasoline and diesel-powered vehicle maintenance; automotive mechanical and electrical systems maintenance; and interpreting automotive diagrams and schematics. One (1) year of supervisory experience in a maintenance or related environment.

Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or bona-fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities) **

1. Additional technical or vocational training may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the experience requirement on a year for year basis.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.


1. Employees in this classification are assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
2. Employees will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
