Microelectronics Design Enablement Manager 2 - Northrop Grumman Corporation (Linthicum, Maryland)
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a candidate for the position of Microelectronics Design Enablement Manager 2 in Engineering, Science & Technology (ES&T). The position is located at the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, MD - where we develop discriminating technologies, design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production as well as emerging technology programs.
The Microelectronics Design Enablement Manager 2 will be responsible for management activities associated with the deployment of new Design Tools, Flows and Methodology along with Process Design Kit (PDK) collateral and other varied Design Enablement capabilities. This includes ongoing support and continuous improvement of existing capabilities and aspects of Foundry Management related to Tools, Flows, Methodology and PDKs. This manager will oversee the work being performed by 8-14 engineers, and will provide staffing for all digital Design Enablement needs, both for new development and production processes, including but not limited to, Silicon, Compound Semiconductor, and Superconducting. In addition, this manager will provide staffing for Tool, Flow and Methodology Design Enablement needs in support of enterprise-wide design activity across multiple external on-shore foundry processes such as SiGe, deep sub-micron CMOS, RF CMOS, and compound semiconductors. Members of the team fill varied roles under the umbrella of Design Enablement (PDK Development, Scripting, Library/PDK Releasing, Onsite Application Engineer and custom EDA Tool Development). The work being overseen will be coordinated with foundry management on project prioritization and requirements gathering. Responsibilities include estimating cost and schedule for new projects, planning and resource assignment for project activity, ensuring that cost and schedule objectives are met and interfacing with cross-disciplined foundry stakeholders to negotiate technical direction and deployment requirements.
The Microelectronics Design Enablement Manager 2 will be responsible for overall Design Enablement quality and business risk, ensuring a common development framework is followed, and spearheading continuous improvement activities for Tool, Flow and Methodology Development and employee engagement. Tools, Flows and Methodologies developed by this team become tools put to use throughout the foundry and company to aid in the execution of business objectives. A background in microelectronics design/enablement is a must and it is expected that the manager will develop additional fabrication domain knowledge over time. Administrative responsibilities include resource management, objectives setting and performance evaluations, approval of employee time charging, employee engagement initiatives, continuous improvement activities to optimize Tool, Flow and Methodology development processes and capabilities, evaluation of available commercial software offerings, and the configuration control of released capabilities.
