Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking multiple candidates for the position of Microelectronics Design/Enablement Manager in Eastern Region Hardware Engineering within the Mission Systems Sector. The positions are located at the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, MD - where we develop discriminating technologies, design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production as well as emerging technology programs.
These Microelectronics Design/Enablement Managers will be responsible for management activities associated with the design of Integrated Circuits (Full Lifecycle) and/or deployment of new Design Enablement capabilities (Process Design Kits (PDKs), CAD Administration, ASIC Tool/Flow/Methodology Development and Layout Automation), ongoing support and continuous improvement of existing designs/capabilities and aspects of microelectronics management related to Circuit Design and Design Enablement. These managers will oversee the work being performed by 8-14 engineers, and will provide staffing for internal Design Projects and/or Design Enablement, both for new development and production processes, including but not limited to, Silicon, Compound Semiconductor, and Superconducting.
In addition, these managers will provide staffing for Design Projects and/or Design Enablement needs in support of enterprise-wide design activity across multiple external on-shore foundry processes such as SiGe, deep sub-micron CMOS, RF CMOS, and compound semiconductors. Members of the teams fill the roles of Analog, Mixed Signal, ASIC Circuit Designers and/or PDK Development, System/USER/Project Administration, Design Enablement Scripting, Layout Automation, Onsite Application Engineer and custom EDA Tool Development (beyond scripting).
The work being overseen will be coordinated with upper and adjacent microelectronics management on project prioritization and requirement gathering. Responsibilities include estimating cost and schedule for new projects, planning and resource assignment for project activity, ensuring that cost and schedule objectives are met and interfacing with cross-disciplined microelectronics stakeholders to negotiate technical direction and deployment requirements.
These Microelectronics Design/Enablement Managers will be responsible for overall Circuit Design and/or Design Enablement quality and business risk, ensuring a common design/development framework is followed, and spearheading continuous improvement activities for Design/Design Enablement capabilities and employee engagement. Circuits and Capabilities designed/developed within this organization become components of larger Northrop Grumman Systems and/or tools put to use throughout the Northrop Grumman microelectronics community to aid in the execution of business objectives.
A background in microelectronics design/ design enablement is a must and it is expected that the managers will develop additional fabrication domain knowledge over time. Administrative responsibilities include resource management, objectives setting and performance evaluations, approval of employee time charging, employee engagement initiatives, continuous improvement activities to optimize Circuit Design and/or Design Enablement development processes and capabilities, evaluation of available commercial software offerings, and the configuration control circuit design data and/or released capabilities.
Strong leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
