The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.


The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Manager of Safety Data. This position will manage safety data, accident reports, statistical analysis, and monthly reports. The manager supervises safety clerks, and consultant staff and is responsible for creating trend reporting data for accidents. The manager will also be responsible for the following: Managing the work of the Safety Data Group; identifying trends, patterns, risks, and hazards for all modes of transportation; coordinating with MDOT/FTA Rail Safety Oversight on accident data for reporting; managing the Safety Accident Reporting System (ARS); responding to accidents and investigating them; developing reports and reviewing fact reports for accuracy; and reviewing accident costs and working with other departments to gather information for data collection and reporting.


QUALIFICATIONS:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience in administrative or professional work. One year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures. ** Two years of this experience must have included investigating transit accidents to include compiling and analyzing accident investigation data reports, as well as reviewing and retrieving CCTV footage.

SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION
1. Additional experience in administrative or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees may be subject to emergency recall 24 hours a day and may be required to maintain a reliable communication link (telephone or pager) for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.

Eligible candidates may be subject to a background investigation under Federal or State laws and regulations. A conviction is not an automatic disqualification to employment. Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties are required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
