DESCRIPTION:
Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration is seeking qualified candidates for the position of MTA Manager of Metro Control Center. This position supervises Metro Controllers who monitor and coordinate system wide train movements, including movements in the Wabash Yard. The position reviews and evaluates Controller performance, Operator compliance, and voice communication channels. The incumbent ensures the monitoring of the traction power substations, 14 Metro Stations, and has decision-making authority in the removal and restoration of the third rail power.

The Manager of Metro Control Center designs and implements Control Center work plans, attends project meetings, assigns projects in areas of responsibility, and reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Operating Procedures, General Orders, bulletins, and notices. This position also manages the departmental budget.

The Manager of Metro Control Center works closely with the Bus Operations Control Center and Light Rail Control Center, as well as the Service Delivery Department to address service issues or emergency situations that impact our customers.


The current vacancy is located in Baltimore City, MD and may require daily local travel only.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of experience in administrative or professional work. One year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures. Five (5) years of this experience must have been in Rail Operations.


*This statement contains a Selective Qualification, which is more focused in scope than the Preferred Qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or bona-fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills, or abilities).


Ideal candidate will possess experience in a Control Center environment and experience managing a departmental budget.


Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-to-year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
