Job Description:

Notre Dame of Maryland University is seeking candidates for the Director of Facilities Management, who is responsible for all aspects of facilities management including leadership and management of maintenance, plant operations, facilities renovation, capital improvement projects, utilities, custodial services, and grounds. As the Custodian of Campus Master Plan, the Director manages capital projects, supervises all vendors, contractors and consultants. The Director will supervise functional areas (maintenance, plant, custodial, and grounds) through key personnel and providing leadership and direction to ensure efficient operation of these areas. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe work environment by providing safety training and the appropriate personal protective equipment for maintenance, plant, custodial, and grounds personnel and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.

This leadership role reports to the Vice President for Finance & Administration and will maintain and develop initiatives that enhance the campus environment to enrich student life, learning, and work environments.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in Plant Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in comprehensive facilities management, ideally in higher education. Supervisory experience is required. This is a highly visible position and a successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, customer service, adaptability, and professionalism.

Preferred qualifications include experience in building construction, alteration, repair methods and materials used in building maintenance; electrical distribution and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment; principles and practices in maintenance management; methods of estimating costs of construction and repair of buildings and grounds including the ability to read and interpret blueprints; state and local codes related to construction and repair of buildings.
