Department: Internal Medicine Work Schedule/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30a.m.-5:00p.m. 37.5 hrs. The mission of Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity (formerly known as the Johns Hopkins Center to Eliminate Cardiovascular Disparities) is to improve health outcomes and reduce racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in the healthcare experienced by persons from socially at-risk groups in Baltimore, the state of Maryland, nationally, and globally. The Center uses community-based participatory research principles to build strong ties among researchers, healthcare provider networks, community members, and policy-makers. There are currently conducting two intervention trials underway in the Center (the RICH LIFE Project and Five Plus Nuts and Beans for Kidneys) to improve the identification, treatment, and outcomes of African Americans, Hispanics, and poor persons with hypertension and other chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and depression. The Center has an Internal Steering Committee that oversees integrated and complimentary Cores (Research, Methods, Education and Training, and Stakeholder Engagement). The Center Community Advisory Board and the Johns Hopkins Medicine Health Equity Steering Committee also provide guidance for the work of the cores. Reporting to the Center Director, the Project Administrator manages all activities necessary to operate the Center and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating existing and new initiatives to further the mission and goals of the Center's projects. Specific areas of responsibility include administrative oversight, resource planning, budget management, and human resource management for all of the Center's research, educational, and community engagement activities as well as any strategic initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: Administration:*Provides administrative oversight for all of the Center's research, educational, and community engagement projects. Collaborates with Center faculty, project management staff, outside vendors and stakeholders, to ensure that all members of cross-functional teams are working together to accomplish the Center's objectives. Serves as a contributor at every level of project execution, from creative concept to final deliverables.*Conduct analyses; research best practices for operational challenges; serve as the administrative and business liaison to faculty-led program development processes; incorporate metrics into projects and assist in evaluating effectiveness of all activities, proposing, revising and overseeing activities as necessary to achieve successful efforts.*Actively liaise with 25 investigators [led by the Center Director and Principal Investigators (PIs) of the Center's research studies] and approximately 15 project staff to integrate and assure the provision and integration of administrative services across Center projects, cores, and training programs.*Work in coordination with the research team from each of the Center's projects and cores to ensure accuracy, proper organization and advanced preparation of sponsored projects deliverables.*Develops archive systems for all of the Center's documents and assures proper use and maintenance of the system by Center staff and faculty. *Ensures maintenance of database of Center academic publications, news articles, faculty, staff, and trainee presentations and awards. * Gathers and incorporates appropriate feedback and approvals from all Center stakeholders as needed for specific programs and projects.*Helps to manage the pipeline of proposals and related relationships with funders.*In collaboration with Center and Project PIs, plan, direct, and execute Annual Progress Report/non-competing and competing proposal submission process. *Designs system procedures to ensure compliance with grant and institution regulations. Collects, reviews for adherence to regulation, and tracks all regulatory documentation for sites involved in studies. Ensure all regulatory compliance, documentation, and sponsor requirements are met.*Develops infrastructure to support training activities at all levels. Trainees include undergraduate and graduate students, post docs, junior faculty, community health personnel, and community members.*Oversee the Center's administrative research coordinator in designing and sending announcements about the Center's education and training programs. *Supports organization of mentoring teams and communication among mentors and mentees. Fiscal Management:*Manages salary planning and distribution for the Center Director and core staff*Develops budget for all of the Center's projects, requesting budget quotes from institutional facilities, external vendors, collaborating partners, and independent contractors and employing them in an overall budget for each respective project and budget year.*Tracks and manages budgets and timelines to ensure all projects are delivered on schedule and on budget.*Actively liaises with Division of General Medicine finance managers to integrate budgetary information. *Analyzes expenditures and forecasts potential Center costs across various scenarios to assist in future project planning. * Monitors use of resources in accordance with project plans and budgets, and generates reports to the Center Director, Associate Directors, and senior research program manager, to assist control of resources in their areas of responsibility, in a collaborative manner. *Allocates resources and develop efficiencies to improve and maintain research and educational/training activities of the Center and to ensure a positive financial performance *Coordinates and manages facilities, equipment, supplies and related resources; understands and complies with safety standards*Serves as a resource on technical and program-related issues for faculty and staff, demonstrating knowledge of research processes and related technology, instruments, and equipment. Human resource management: *Manages the hiring process for all Center staff, including drafting job descriptions for posting, recruiting, interviewing, and extending offers to prospective employees*Manages the intake process for prospective trainees and volunteers;*Designs and oversees orientation and training of new employees, trainees, and volunteers, serving as the point person during the hiring and training process for overall information about the Center's organizational structure and programs, and providing information regarding expectations of conduct, attendance, and communication with immediate supervisors, coworkers, the Center Director, and Associate Directors, as appropriate.*Serves as supervisor of record for all research assistants, research program assistants, trainees, and volunteers, signing off on timesheets and conducting performance reviews. Communications:*Manages translation/dissemination processes in collaboration with the Center Director, Associate Directors, and Senior Research Program Manager, including management of a robust website targeting internal and external audiences, social media strategy, weekly e-letter newsletter distribution, and responding to invitations for Center participation in campus and community activities, seminars, symposiums, and conferences, and weekly newsletter for staff and stakeholders. *Works with Office of Marketing and Communications to develop targeted, consistent messages to be used across platforms aimed at increasing brand position for Center within Johns Hopkins community, locally, and nationally.Posted by StartWire
