U.S. Dream Academy in Partnership with the STEM Achievement in Baltimore Elementary Schools (SABES) program is seeking one (1) individual to fill the part:time position of SABES Afterschool Facilitator. SABES Afterschool Facilitators support the implementation of the goal of SABES to achieve STEM literacy within three (3) specific Baltimore communities (lower Park Heights, Greater Homewood, and Greektown / Highlandtown) by comprehensively engaging the community in STEM learning practices situated within these same communities. SABES is deeply committed to locating STEM within the world of the children they serve, rather than asking them to journey to the world of the scientist.

Key Responsibilities

:Responsible for the implementation of the STEM afterschool program for 3rd : 5th grade students
:Coordinate with Johns Hopkins University Research teams and community members to facilitate STEM afterschool curriculum and student:driven projects
:Submit weekly lesson plans, student and mentor attendance records and photos
:Regularly report on progress and implementation issues to the SABES team
:Teach STEM curriculum, provide guidance for student:driven projects, and structure interactions with STEM experts
:Supervise SABES participants in the classroom, adhering to safety guidelines and maintaining a positive learning environment
:Prepare materials for STEM lessons and coordinate with the program manager to order necessary supplies
:Serve as a chaperone on fieldtrips
:Attend and support STEM Recognition showcases (held twice/year)
:Participate in required trainings and staff meetings
:Assist in creating and maintaining participant records
:Complete other duties as assigned

Length of Appointment: The SABES Afterschool facilitator will serve the program from December to mid:May. Actual time may vary for program preparation and/or program closure.

Time Commitment: The SABES Afterschool Facilitator will lead sessions for 4 hours per week (two days/week for two hours : specific days and times TBD). Two (2) hours will be required per week for planning and preparation. The facilitator must participate in mandatory trainings.

Support Provided: Training for this position will be provided at the
orientation/training session. Ongoing professional development will be held as well. I
