IEP Coordinator Primary Location: United States-MD-MDBaltimore Function: Training Education Services Organization: Hastings Description New Visions Academy of Baltimore is a private, separate day school for male students ages 11-21 in grades 6-12. As a full-day special education program, New Visions provides a structured learning environment, vocational training and other support services for male students who have been unable to succeed in the public school system. We combine traditional scholastic courses with hands-on training and additional support, guidance and therapy to assist boys and young men who have emotional or behavioral challenges. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below. Ensures IEPs are developmentally appropriate, curriculum/standards-based, strength based, and relevant to individual students;Liaise with all LEAs and local school system supervisors in facilitation of the IEP process, information exchange preparation and scheduling for IEP meetings;Effectively communicates to all parents and guardians the special education process for referrals, evaluations, annual IEPS and re-evaluations as well as parental rights granted by IDEA;In conjunction with the Clinical Director, identifies and coordinates special education services providers for school psychology, speech and language therapy and other related services;Oversees all aspects of IEP development, diagnostic assessments, education evaluations and annual /triennial reviews;Assists in developing and implementing realistic goals with regards to IEP's for students; Works closely with teachers to ensure that instruction modifications are met during classroom instruction;Provides training and technical assistance to educational staff, related service providers and support service professionals on all aspects of case management: use of computer systems for the special education process, writing of goals, progress reports, annual reviews and parent communication; Case manages each student to maintain school and LEA tracking and data systems that include, but not limited to, student information related to IEPs, service hours, evaluations, referrals, and time lines in which evaluations were completed and discipline incidents documented;Collaborates with Testing Coordinator in the development, tracking, dissemination and proper implementation of IEP mandated accommodations for students during state testing events;Coordinates with student's IEP team to ensure all documents are completed in a timely manner according to state, local, and school policies;Provides up-to-date IEPs for each classroom so as to ensure appropriate IEP identifiers are being implemented;Facilitates IEP meetings using a strength-based family centered and team approach. Connect with special education team to ensure all team members (including parents) are prepared for the content of the meeting;Coordinates with special education team to complete quarterly IEP progress reports and provide quarterly IEP progress reports to parent/guardians;Maintains student files (paper and electronic) according to school, MSDE and OSSE standards;Company Description:The MENTOR Network is a national network of local human services providers offering quality, community-based services to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain and spinal cord injuries and other catastrophic injuries and illnesses, and to youth with emotional, behavioral and medically complex challenges as well as their families.
