For fullest consideration, candidates should submit materials by March 1, 2017.General purpose: Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Educational Planning and Development provides leadership and coordination for all aspects of academic program planning, development, assessment, and accreditation at the College.Summary of Essential FunctionsThe AVP for Educational Planning and Development works collaboratively with the faculty, staff and academic leadership to ensure the ongoing development and renewal of MICA's academic programs and the delivery of high quality, comprehensive, and transformative educational experiences across all of the fields and areas of educational programming at the College. The AVP for Educational Planning and Development also provides leadership and support for academic program and policy development, the assessment of student learning, faculty professional development, and for planning and initiatives aimed at building an innovative, participatory, and socially-engaged culture of teaching and learning at the College. This position supervises the Decker Library & Media Resources Collection, the Writing Studio, the Learning Resource Center, and the Office of Instructional Advancement and Technology.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:* Member of Provost's Council; Co-Chair; Re-Accreditation Steering Committee; Co-Chair MICA Assessment Committee; Member of Governance Meeting.* Strategic and operational leadership for MICA's curriculum planning, development, assessment and academic renewal agenda.* Supervises key Academic Service areas including: the Decker Library & Media Resources Collection, the Writing Studio, the Learning Resource Center, and the Office of Instructional Advancement and Technology.* Serves as institutional liaison for Academic Affairs with both the regional (MSCHE) and disciplinary (NASAD) accreditors. Responsible for ongoing monitoring of program changes requiring accrediting agency approval.* With the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Provost's Council, the Re-Accreditation Steering Committee, and faculty and staff, coordinates the process for self-study, strategic planning, and institutional reaccreditation beginning in Fall 2017.* With the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, develops and coordinates process for the cyclical review of all academic programs and support services.* Develops and coordinates college-wide and area processes for learning outcomes assessment.* Develops and oversees a comprehensive program for faculty professional development in the research and practice of teaching and learning. Responsible for staff and budget development in these areas.* With Enrollment Services, Career Services, Alumni Affairs, and other key stakeholders, responsible for development of core data/institutional research function to support annual, periodic, and cyclical assessment processes.* Collaborates with the Associate Vice President for Academic Services and the Associate Dean of Enrollment Services and Registrar to provide integrated support for planning and operations for all academic programs.* Collaborates with Enrollment Services, the Academic Affairs Committee of Faculty Assembly, the Provost's Council, and other key stakeholders, on the development of Academic Policy to ensure support and guidance for faculty and students and the integrity of all academic programs.* With Enrollment Services, represents Academic Affairs on college-wide student success initiatives to support and promote access, success, retention, persistence, transition, and completion.* Work with key offices, programs, and services to create and institutionalize a holistic and integrated approach to academic renewal and educational innovation at MICA.* Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* Experience leading institutional processes for curriculum design and approval, program review, student learning outcomes assessment, and/or accreditation.* Experience as either a faculty member or administrator with practices of shared governance and strategic planning in a College or University environment.* An active commitment to diversity in all its forms (eg, racial, gender, socioeconomic, intellectual, methodological, disciplinary) including a demonstrated ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives; demonstrated ability to mentor, mobilize and effectively manage a diverse team of staff and faculty; demonstrated commitment to working in a professional community that views diversity as an organizational strength.* Experience teaching in art- and design-based programs and/or familiarity with teaching and research practices in these environments.* Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; strong collaborative orientation to project design and management; proven track record of managing successful teams.Minimum qualifications:* MFA, Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a field related to the art or design disciplines or equivalent professional and/or administrative experience.* Minimum of 5 years previous experience in academic administration in faculty and/or administrative roles with responsibility for program design, the development and coordination of assessment practices, and the maintenance of academic quality of programs.Preferred Qualifications:* Experience working with community-based and/or partnered projects and curriculum.* Working knowledge of contemporary educational technologies in art and design, including learning management, portfolio, and media storage/delivery systems.Reporting to this position: Executive Assistant for Educational PlanningConditions of Employment:Conditions: Background CheckFor additional information, contact: David Bogen, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at firstname.lastname@example.orgPosted by StartWire.
