Position Summary: Full-time faculty in Stevenson University Online will engage in teaching, scholarship and service activities in accordance with the University's Faculty Workload and Promotion/Sabbatical Guidelines. Teaching responsibilities will include 24 credit hours per academic year (usually 12 credit hours per semester). The faculty member provides leadership in the coordination of and teaches primarily RNBS courses. Teaching includes primarily online courses. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student advising, assessment, committee service, and participating in the life of the university. Education/Experience: Doctorate degree in nursing or related field preferred, master's degree in nursing required plus previous college teaching experience with strong commitment to quality teaching. Previous experience in online teaching preferred. Must be licensed as RN by Maryland Board of Nursing or be Board eligible. Knowledge/Skills/Ability: Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated team-building ability Excellent organizational and reasoning skills Courses require strong technology skills and experience working with Blackboard or a similar learning management system. Experience with and commitment to educational assessment practices Commitment to quality teaching Commitment to scholarly activity and professional development. Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice as a registered nurse Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required. Database management and other computer skills are valued. Essential Functions: INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITY (55-75%) Engage in instructional activity totaling 12 credit hours per semester and/or 24 credit hours per academic year. As part of Instructional Activity load: -Prepare courses in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines and Quality Matters standards, -Grade all coursework using appropriate rubric, -Is available to students for discussion a minimum of 3 hours per week, -Meet with students as related to instructional activity. Evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly. Participate in the assessment activities of the Department, School, and University. Mentor students in capstone courses as appropriate. SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY (10-20%) Develop and maintain independent intellectual pursuits, including research, that enhance teaching effectiveness. Attend professional development workshops, meetings, and conferences related to professional interests, including those of professional organizations. SERVICE ACTIVITY (15-25%) Attend all Faculty/Staff University, School, and Department meetings. Attend commencement exercises and other required activities. Serve on Department, School, and University committees. Participate in Department, School and University events.
