The Advanced Concepts and Technologies organization (AC&T) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks to fill the position of Semiconductor Fabrication Lead 5 to support Superconducting Electronics fabrication.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Transformational Technology Business Area within AC&T. Transformational Technology is focused on developing state-of-the-art next generation superconducting electronics (SCE) and advanced computing technologies.
The Semiconductor Fabrication Lead 5 will be responsible for designing and overseeing the development of a manufacturable Superconducting Electronic integrated circuit microfabrication process from the component feasibility stage through production ramp.
The Semiconductor Fabrication Lead will work onsite at AC&T’s Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.
Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman’s ground based radars, avionic radars, and space systems. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.
Responsibilities include making significant contributions to process architecture development and overseeing the establishment of design rules; developing and debugging complex fabrication processes; leading a group of process engineers and product engineers to demonstrate technical goals on schedule; providing a technical interface to customers and program management; and creating fabrication roadmaps to support long range business area goals.
Experience with Superconducting Electronics is a plus, but you must have previous experience developing novel process architectures and leading a team of integration engineers. Candidates must also have working knowledge of typical integrated foundry BEOL toolsets including lithography, dielectric deposition and etch, metal deposition and etch, and chemical mechanical polishing. He/she must be able to autonomously plan and schedule his/her own daily tasks and develop solutions to complex problems utilizing formal education and judgment; must understand integrated circuit failure analysis techniques and be capable of directing process changes and improvements to resolve process failures; and must be capable of working in an environment of rapidly changing requirements and fabrication processes.
The successful candidate will be versatile and demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills as the fabrication processes and performance requirements are evolving rapidly. He/she must also show exceptional communication skills. Experience leading teams of process engineers on cutting edge development projects is strongly desired, as well as previous experience developing superconducting electronics fabrication processes and experience with relevant superconducting materials.
