Please note: this job posting is for a planned branch office opening in Baltimore, MD in the 2nd quarter of 2017.
Report Preparation : 75 of Time
This position typically consists of a split between office and field duties. Field duties include site walkovers, data collection and evaluation, and sample analysis. Office work includes project coordination, data management, report writing, proposal preparation, and client maintenance. Some overnight travel is required for this position. NAC makes attempts to ensure travel is spread evenly among team members.
Ensure that all steps and procedures are taken according to industry standards, NAC standards, and that all work is completed as planned and scheduled. This includes keeping the client informed of the on:going status of a project.
Prepare high quality reports : Ensure that the reports are completed per industry and NAC standards.
Candidates that have the ability and desire to cross train into other company disciplines are preferred. NACs other services include; property condition assessments, facility assessments, construction progress monitoring, and energy auditing.
Business Development and Relationship Building : 15 of Time
Solicit New Clients/Projects : In interfacing with potential or existing clients, listen for and seek out new projects that may exist or are being formulated. Set up meetings and/or participate in the development of proposals as requested.
Maintain Contact with Clients : Meet regularly with key clients to discuss current projects, evaluate firm performance, and identify other business opportunities either with current clients or through referrals.
Be a Public Relations Ambassador : Be proactive in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company.
Alternately attend meetings of Associations where NAC is a member.
Business/Fiscal Management : 5 of Time
Control Costs : As part of the management of each project, ensure that costs are kept in line with the original budget for time, travel, and material expenses. Discuss variations with the Industrial Hygiene Services Manager and Director.
Maximize Project Profitability : Through appropriate project budgeting/pricing, utilization of resources and cost controls, maximize the profit margin on individual projects.
Professional Development : 5 of Time
Review current Federal, State and/or local regulations and industry specific information to maintain current knowledge of industry standards.
Periodically attend training workshops, conferences, presentations, etc.
Review any internal standard memos, organizational or structural changes for NAC and keep track of any changes that may impact the projects that the Energy and Sustainability Consultant is working on. This includes template changes, organizational changes, and client final product information (i.e. number of reports requires, checklists for final reports required, etc.)
Education Requirements
B.S. in Environmental Studies, Environmental Health, Geology, Construction Management, Engineering, or closely related field is preferred.
Skill Sets, Licensing, and Certifications
NIOSH 582 Certification
Maryland Asbestos Inspector License is required; certification in surrounding states (D.C., PA, VA) is preferred.
Maryland Lead Inspector / Risk Assessor is required; certification in surrounding states (D.C., PA, VA) is preferred.
Mid:level with 5 years of asbestos, lead, radon, and IAQ experience.
Entry level of 2:5 years of construction management, energy sustainability, architectural consulting experience.
Compensation is based on experience and licensing. Preference to candidates with business development potential will be given.
