The Design Director has overall responsibility for new product design efforts, ensuring that these efforts are aligned with business unit, financial, strategic, organizational and performance goals. Partner with key stakeholders to create strategically aligned and executable global design roadmaps

Create and maintain design leadership in each segment of our global business, working closely with customers and key specifiers to define design requirements

Build strong relationships with key internal partners on design strategies and priorities
Interface directly with customers, consumers and specifiers to identify, define and deliver new design concepts

Conduct Design Boards, Councils, formal and informal market research

Partner with key internal stakeholders (e.g., product management, marketing, product development, and manufacturing) to ensure team is creating industry-leading, high-impact visuals

Drive functional excellence in design by establishing effective new design practices and metrics
Provide technical and functional leadership to design team members to support the effective execution of design projects in alignment with business needs, technical requirements, budget and timeline

Provide design support to other global teams and share best practices to drive ongoing improvement

Assess and grow design talent capability and resources, building a strong and cohesive team

Demonstrate business acumen by understanding the fundamentals of the products and market channels

Successfully execute priority design projects in alignment with business needs

Establish personal credibility with key customers and internal partners from both a design and leadership perspective

Develop an effective and cohesive organization, including a comprehensive talent assessment and succession plan

Manage 10-12 designers with varying experience levels
