Classified title: Sr. Research Assistant Role/Level/Range: ACRP/3/MB Starting Salary Range : $31,781.- $51,950. Employee group (Full time/Part-time/Limited/Casual): Full-Time Employee subgroup : Exempt Schedule : M-F 8:00-4:30, to be determined Location: School of Medicine The individual hired in this position will serve as the Sr. Research Assistant/Data Manager for research and education projects conducted by the Brancati Center for the Advancement of Community Care in the Division of Internal Medicine. The mission of the Brancati Center is to develop innovative models of care that improve the health of communities. This position requires the individual to fulfill the responsibilities of a research/project coordinator with expertise in research methods and/or methods for evaluating educational programs. The candidate will work under the supervision of the Program Manager and Brancati Center faculty directors to fulfill duties related to day-to-day operations of research and education activities including the collection and management of data, conduct basic statistical analyses, program management, and miscellaneous administrative responsibilities. The position requires decision-making skills, excellent problem-solving skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and use of applications commonly used in managing data sets. Specific duties & responsibilities: Maintain knowledge of all aspects of the research or education program protocols and procedures. Coordinate and participate in study and education program meetings including the preparation of agendas and meeting minutes. Assist in the review and summary of relevant literature on related research and educational topics. Assist in the development of study plans (such as designing a survey instrument) and related operating procedures. Collaborate with the faculty leaders to resolve data issues to assure data quality for documentation and dissemination of data. Conduct basic statistical analyses using standard procedures to organize the data for summaries. Design and prepare tables and figures to illustrate analytic findings. Makes strategic recommendations/decisions related to quality assurance findings to meet project goals. Follow policies to maintain data security. Generate reports for project deliverables. Assist with grant and manuscript writing and submission. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related discipline required. MPH or MS in relevant field preferred. Three years of related experience required. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Special knowledge, skills, and abilities: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel and Access) and basic statistical software. Understanding of statistics. Knowledge of clinical research practices and principles. Ability to work well as a member of a team. Must work well independently, able to set goals and meet required deadlines. Independent decision making/trouble shooting abilities. Excellent communication skills. Excellent organization skills. Ability to work on multiple and competing priorities. JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
