Seeking a motivated, detailed oriented safety professional to join our Safety and Environmental department as an Administrative Assistant responsible for coordinating and administering the day-to day functions of the department. As a Safety Assistant you will: . Provide full administrative support to the Safety and Environmental department. . Assist the manager in the coordination and administration of the company safety and environmental programs. . Prepare, process and track workers compensation claims, property and accident claims, windshield claims, etc. Act as liaison between insurance companies, doctor's offices and company personnel. . Prepare and monitor regulatory reports including but not limited to MOSH, MSHA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, Security and Workers' Compensation reports. . Maintain CDL driver DOT records. . Coordinate random and post-accident drug and/or alcohol tests for employees. . Coordinate light duty as required and track and coordinate all return to duty paperwork. . Collaborate with management on training and compliance issues. Lead training as required. . Conduct new hire safety orientations. . Maintain safety documents and information in HRIS system. . Maintain safety statistics, tracking and reporting. Other record keeping responsibilities as assigned. . Coordinate events as required. . Assist other members of HR and Safety team as needed. . All other duties as assigned. Requirements: . College degree preferred and two years' experience in a similar skilled position (ie, HR, Safety, Workers' Compensation). . Experience in MSHA, OSHA, DOT and Workers Compensation a must. . Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact well with people. Must be able to give presentations, perform training, speak in front of groups of people. . Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required. The ability to learn new programs quickly is essential. . Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, federal regulations, procedures, manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. . Must be able to work in a sometimes stressful and hectic environment, be flexible and able to adapt to an ever-changing environment. . Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
