General Summary/Purpose The SON's transition from the BSN program into a master's entry into nursing program, the addition of the Synthesis Simulation Intensive, and the anticipated increase in the use of simulation in the advanced practice DNP program will increase the demand for time and resources in the simulation and practice labs. In light of this growth we are requesting a slight expansion of our team. A Simulation Lab Assistant is to help with set-up, break-down and supply inventory focusing on support for Foundations and Health Assessment but also supporting the work in the simulation areas. Expected hours would be Monday - Friday from 10:30am - 4:30pm. This will enable us to maintain adequate coverage for our simulation and practice labs enabling quality simulation experiences for our students. Specific Duties/Responsibilities Work under the direction of the Simulation Specialist for the Simulation and Nursing Practice Labs: Set up simulation and practice labs for teaching experiences, including gathering supplies, moving human patient simulators and other models, moving equipment and furniture as needed, and providing moulage to manikins or standardized patients. Assist with clean up after simulations and labs. Provide support to faculty during simulation center classes including: Foundations, Health Assessment and simulation sessions. Assist with inventory control for disposable supplies. Pickup borrowed equipment and supplies from central stores, Pharmacy, CPR office, JHU SOM sim center, etc. Maintain a clean and safe environment in the Simulation and Nursing Practice Labs Participate in manikin cleaning and maintenance. Assist in tours or special events if requested. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Able to learn new technologies easily. Able to work independently. Good team member with effective communication skills. Able to work flexible hours. During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
