Job Summary Responsible for the accurate preparation and processing of weekly and semi-monthly payroll and all related activities including reconciliations, reporting and funding requests. Responsible for tax research and maintenance. Processes certified payroll and oversees quarterly and year-end processes. Ensure compliance with all state and federal payroll laws and regulations. Accuracy and timeliness in processing and filings. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Performs a wide variety of recordkeeping and payroll processing activities including computing wage and overtime payments and importing payroll data from time and attendance system in payroll software.Reconciling payroll totals and inspecting automated system output to determine and correct out-of-balance conditions.Reviewing tax reports and serving as a liaison to payroll service to maintain proper tax accounts and rates.Maintains compliance with local, state and federal regulations regarding payroll taxes.Responds to questions and special requests from employees and regulatory agencies.Researches laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures.Review and import weekly payroll spreadsheets and time and attendance hours into payroll software.Process payroll weekly and biweekly for union and non-union employees in multiple states.Oversee the calculation of time sheets for prevailing wage projects and complete certified payrolls for municipalities in multiple states and jurisdictions.Issue manual payroll checks.Review and reconcile payroll totals and prepare wire transmittals for approval as required.Oversee third party vendor responsible for processing wage garnishments and insure timely filing with vendor.Import expense reimbursement file into payroll system for processing.Process deductions/reimbursements and other payroll related changes.Assist managers with payroll related issues including time entry, approvals and clock errors.Set up and maintain employee state and Federal Withholdings.Oversee year end process including auditing, reports and W2s.Process monthly union billing for health and welfare, dues and pensions as required.Report monthly employment statistics to US Department of Labor as requested.Assist employees with PTO balance and payroll inquiries.
