The Key Account Director (KAL) reports to the GBU Head. The KAL will be responsible for developing long term partnerships with Key Accounts (joint health) as well as with executive levels of large dialysis providers (renal). The KAL is responsible for ensuring that these partnerships lead to strong sales performance for both the short and the long term. The KAL will work closely with the Joint Health Sales Lead and the Marketing team on overall sales strategy and execution of the commercial plan. The KAL will partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Contracting and Pricing and Legal to develop strategies and implementation of key tactics. The KAL is the primary Sanofi point of contact with key accounts and their networks. The KAL will be accountable for the customer experience coordinating appropriate resources and personnel to meet the needs of the customer.
The KAL will build intimate report with customers and key decision makers to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the partnership. The KAL will develop and manage key business activities to top tier customers in key accounts, negotiate and maintain a sustainable long term relationship what works to facilitate and generate mutual benefits and unlock opportunities. KAL is the liaison between Sanofi and strategic prioritized key accounts including but not limited to clinics, hospitals, IDNs. KAL are responsible for developing and executing business plans aligned with corporate objectives and supporting Sanofi s products. This will be accomplished in a compliant manner with a high degree of integrity strictly following all Sanofi policies and in compliance with all policies and procedures governing the promotion of devices in the US.
Job Responsibilities:
Renal Focus: Time Split 15%
+ Maintain and further develop key relationships with the LDOs executives at the corporate and specialty pharmacy level
+ Introduce key members of the Sanofi team to develop further the partnerships as needed with possible business development
Joint Health Focus:
+ Develop and formalize the Key Account Strategy from infancy to implementation with the goal to have much stronger partnerships with key accounts (clinics, hospitals and IDNs etc.)
+ Develop a framework for working collaboratively with all internal stakeholders (charter, roles and responsibilities etc)
+ Systemize the KAM strategy develop KPIs and plan of action for each account.
+ Responsible for sales performance, strategies, and tactics in coordination with the Joint Health Sales Lead and DSMs at 20 of the largest and most critical accounts. Responsible for driving sales through strong, value added relationships with customers.
+ Lead contract negotiations for key accounts that may or may not be on the original list of 20.
+ Develop and maintain key relationships with large accounts particularly at the executive level.
+ Develop, coordinate and execute customer strategies through the team selling process.
+ Develop and regularly evaluate account business plans to ensure that the plans continue to meet strategic business objectives and align with the emerging trends and changes within key customer segments or accounts.
+ Delivers approved specialized messages encompassing accurate clinical, financial, outcomes and operational issues. Strategically manages assigned accounts, budget and allocated resources provided yielding maximum effectiveness and impact.
+ Responsible for developing business plans involving cross functional collaboration.
+ Align and develop internal resource to grow overall relationship as well Sanofi solutions optima usage by working with all internal stakeholders.
+ Facilitate account management by coordinating selling activities and customer interactions through effective leadership and communication with field sales team to ensure appropriate customers needs are met.
+ Demonstrates highly effective account management skills and exemplary selling competencies. Collaborates with field management and sales team on identifying business opportunities and developing appropriate tactics and strategies.
+ Track trends in hospitals, physician practices and analyzes these to identify new opportunities to build up Sanofi s influence
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
+ Bachelor s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, advanced degree preferred but not required
+ Minimum of 15 years Pharmaceutical Sales and/or Marketing experience with at least 5 years National or 2nd line leadership experience
+ Breadth of leadership experience including: Account Management, Marketing, Home Office/Operations, and/or Market Access experience
+ Successful record of hiring, coaching, developing, promoting, performance management and retaining top talent within span of control
+ Proven success and positive track record of performance with a high degree of integrity in complex markets
+ Ability to analyze sales and other relevant market data to formulate strategic plans and execute plans for success
+ Strong understanding of Payer environment, reimbursement and dialysis organizations and specialty pharmacies
+ Ability to travel up to 50% of time
+ The position will require travel to the Cambridge and Bridgewater sites regularly
